The Moon!
The same Moon that we’ve been writing songs about for decades, the one we keep comparing to everyone’s face, glowing like a tube light in the sky. Now imagine actually going there. No traffic, no pollution, no gossiping—just you and craters for miles. Sounds tempting, no?
But wait, how much would it cost? Let’s do some random calculation.
Is It Like Booking a Ticket to Goa?
Well, this is no cheap getaway, like hopping on a train to Goa during the off-season. If you thought flights to the US were expensive, brace yourself for Moon travel. The current going rate for a seat on a lunar shuttle is around ₹400 crore (yes, you read that right). That’s the kind of money even Ambani might double-check his wallet for.
But what do you get in return? No check-in queues, no in-flight meals that taste like cardboard. It’s a VVIP experience, The legroom? Infinite. Luggage weight? No worries, gravity takes care of that.
The Perks: You Won’t Find Them on Earth
Picture this—you’ll be floating around, trying not to laugh because every leap is a slow-motion somersault. No fitness regime needed! Just one step on the Moon and you’ll jump like a cricket ball hit for a six. And when you return, you’ll be that relative who doesn’t talk about his trip to Shimla or Manali anymore. You’ll casually drop, “So when I was on the Moon…” at every gathering. Think about the bragging rights at weddings!
Also, you’ll bring back Moon rocks. Just imagine gifting a piece of the Moon to your relative. Uncle’s/Aunties would stop asking when you’re getting married—they’d just want to know how much the rocks cost.
And The Price Tag?
To be honest, ₹400 crore is not pocket change. But if you have it, why not? Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos are already queuing up to go, so why should we stay behind? You could get a car, a bungalow, and set aside money for retirement—or you could just do the responsible thing and go to the Moon. Just think of the captions on your Instagram: “Eating alu paratha, looking at Earth.”
If you’re serious about it, you’re in luck! The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is gearing up for more Moon missions after Chandrayaan-3. If you can’t make the trip yourself, at least follow along with the news! Check out this latest update on ISRO’s plans for the Moon.
So, how much would I pay to go? Maybe not ₹400 crore. But if ISRO offers a “buy one, get one free” deal, I’m all in! After all, who wouldn’t want to be the first to set up a tea stall on the Moon?
Until then, happy daydreaming!
